See Why Not All Quadcopter Drones are Alike

Typically when we hear the word drone in the press and see drones advertised in mainstream media we will see a quadcopter,  also called a quadrotor helicopter or quadrocopter, which has four propellers.

Although quadcopters may seem like they share similar features not all quadcopter drones and the same and I will explain the differences for you now.

Many quadcopters have a camera built in or allow for a camera attachment to be added but many do not have a camera. Drones also come in different sizes making each type of drone useful in different ways.

Quadcopter DRONEs With a Camera

Many of the smaller consumer quadcopter drones come with a camera built in. The camera is usually shoots good enough video to share with friends and have fun but I do not recommend a smaller drone for serious video making. Many standard sized drones come equipped with a camera and the newer drones can shoot video at 4k.

Cheerson CX-10WD-TX Quadcopter Drone

The Cheerson CX-10WD-TX is a mini drone with a 0.3 mega pixel camera. This is a good little drone to learn on if you are starting out with drones because it is easy to fly. The camera does the job it was designed to do very well although you will not be shooting high definition video on this one as it is mostly intended for first person view (FPV) flight. You can get them cheaply online from Zapals or Amazon.

DJI Mavic Pro Quadcopter Camera Drone

The DJI Mavic Pro is one of the latest innovations in drone technology and comes with a 4k video camera. The Mavic Pro drone is of one of the best consumer level aerial photography drones available and can be used for high quality film making. The cameras is mounted on a gimble to eliminate camera shake while filming and flying. This drone also has some advanced camera setting options similar to the settings you would find on other digital cameras.

Quadcopter DRONES Without a Camera

As I mentioned above, not all quadcopter drones have a camera. There are drones designed simply for flying that do not have a camera.

The Syma X13 is an average sized drone that has no camera and is for recreational flying. The propeller guards also

help prevent damage to surrounding objects and the propellers on gentle collisions so it is a good on to learn with. If you want one the I recommend buying it from

Quadcopter DRONE SIZES

There is a lot of variety when it comes to drones but they can be broken down into three sizes. Large, Average and Mini. The larger drones are usually the professional photography and rescue drones while the average size drones are used for recreational use and professional photography. Mini drones are still mainly toys at this stage in the drone evolution and are only used for fun and learning by most people. As technology becomes more advanced we are seeing a change in drone sizes and smaller drones are becoming more sophisticated.
